Tivua Island (or Mystery Island) is a small coral cay in the northern part of the Mamanucas surrounded by a white sandy beach and extensive lagoon and with just two simple wooden cottages. The island is used as a day tour trip destination catering for up to 80 people a day but before the day trippers arrive (11.30am) and after they leave (3pm), the island becomes a Robinson Crusoe style retreat in Fiji. This is a wondeful down to earth experience on a beautiful island that takes just eight minutes to walk around.

Both bures are simple wooden cottages and are absolute beachfront, on either sides of the island about 60 paces from each other. The cottages have high ceilings with a queen and two single beds, all with mosquito nets, and a private cold-water bathroom with shower. Furnishings are simple and some what out dated but it is the early morning and late afternoon serenity that makes this place special. Both cottages have a wooden deck on the beach edge with fantstic sea views.
Meals are cooked by the island care taker, Lai - there's a large kitchen and supplies for the day guests - and afterwards, Lai will mix Yaqona drink and you can sit down and talk under the stars. Electricity is by generator and is on only between 6pm and 10pm - keresene lamps are provided.
Snorkelling equipment and kayaks are complimentary (snorkelling is average in the lagoon), and as with the day guests, drinks including local beer and wine are free between 11.30am and 3pm - once the day guests depart you pay for drinks.
